Chapter 01
When a curtain beats a sectional
A rolling steel door coils into a barrel above the opening instead of running back along the ceiling. That matters when there is no backroom to give up, when the ceiling is full of services, or when the opening is simply too wide for a sectional to be practical.
Interlocking steel slats also take abuse better than panels do, which is why they end up on loading areas and on anything facing a yard.

Grilles for retail frontages
A rolling grille closes a shopfront or a mall unit without closing off the light or the display behind it. Open weave and brick pattern curtains both let the unit stay visible while it is shut.
These get used twice a day every day, so the barrel bearings, the curtain and the bottom bar are the parts we look at first on a service visit.
Chapter 03
Service, repair and replacement
Common faults are a curtain that has come out of its guides, a bent bottom bar after a strike, worn barrel bearings, and counterbalance springs that have lost tension so the door has become heavy to operate.
Most of these are repairable in place. Where a curtain is beyond saving we will say so rather than keep charging for visits.
